Meet the Area Directors: Tezeta Roro

Name: Tezeta “Tez” Roro

Position: Area 22 Director and Midtown Toastmasters President

Club(s): Midtown Toastmasters

Other positions: I have held the Sergeant at Arms and VP of Membership Roles in the past.

How long have you been in Toastmasters? 5 years

What are your plans for the district/area/division?

To increase member engagement and create added value to members by positioning Toastmasters as more than a public speaking and leadership organization. Toastmasters is a great way build and nurture relationships and help support each other’s professional and personal lives and make positive impact in our communities.

Why did you join Toastmasters?

In order to articulately craft and convey my message as well as to create meaningful connection with members. In addition to my own personal growth, it is a joy to see others gain confidence and find their voice in their Toastmasters journey.

What advice do you have for new members?

Be your own competition. As you visit clubs, you will witness a range of speaking and leadership styles and that can be intimidating. I would encourage new members to use well spoken members as someone to aspire to, not to be intimidated by and be in compete with yourself, with your last speech, and incorporate the evaluations offered into your next speech as well as your life and see yourself blossom. Toastmasters has helped me in my personal and professional life, and I plan to leverage the skills attained at Toastmasters in my real estate business as connecting with my client base and communicating and leading effectively are key attributes to be successful in this industry.
